University of San Francisco Invitational, Golden Gate Park
The American River College men started out on their title defense of their 2012 State Championship in fine fashion, winning the Non-DI portion of the University of San Francisco Invitational. Although both races were run together, the scoring was separated between DI's and everyone else. ARC's average top 5 time for the 8k was 26:07. Had the meet been scored as one meet, the Beavers would have taken 4th, only losing to Stanford, Cal and USF. Also in the meet, finishing behind the Beavers was Santa Clara, San Jose State, Cal State Northridge, UC Santa Cruz, UC Merced, Holy Names and Delta College.
Finishing 8th overall, and first among Non-DI colleges was sophomore Will Reyes, finishing the 5 miles in a great early season time of 25:31. He was followed closely by sophomore Jacob Huston in 25:48. The Beavers finished the Non-DI scoring off by placing 5 runners in the top 8 positions, and scoring 18 points.
