The American River College men's cross country team made its yearly trip to the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational Saturday and took advantage of perfect weather running their second fastest team time in school history. The Beavers averaged 24:52 over the 8000m (5 miles) course. Leading the way for the Beavers in a school record 24:13 was sophomore Abdul Hamid. Sean Gregg was the #2 man for the Beavers in 24:47 – Ozzie Hassen was third in 24:59 – Donald Plazola 4th in 25:03 – and Ross Walker rounded out the top 5 finishing in 25:13. American River won the non-Division I section of the Invitational meet, and was 9th out of 19 NCAA colleges. 

In the Open Section meet, American River ran a team time of 26:16, placing them 6th out of 17 non-Division I programs and would have beaten two of the NCAA Division I teams. Leading the way for the Beavers was Anthony Sanchez in 26:02.
