Beaver's Race Against SoCal's Best
San Diego Mesa Invite
NTC Park, San Diego
October 1st
The men's cross country team traveled down to San Diego this weekend to take on the best teams in southern California. This meet is always a great test to see where the Beavers rank in the state as the southern region has won 29 of 35 state meets since the state combined divisions into 1 race in 1984. ARC has won 5 of the 6 state titles that Northern California schools have won. So in other words, SoCal Preview meet is usually a good preview of the state competition. With all of that being said, the Beavers went down and had a good day on the course! The top teams of ARC, Mt. Sac, San Diego Mesa, and Riverside all had their 5 scoring runners up in the main pack and close behind. Each mile split had a different order of the top 4 teams! At the end, it was too close to tell what the order of the Top 3 teams would be! After all the scores were finally tallied up, Mt. Sac won with 46 points, San Diego Mesa was 2nd with 52 points, and ARC was 3rd with 53 points. 6 points separating 1st from 3rd is about as close as cross country race can get and was decided by seconds, and in some cases fractions of seconds. While the Beavers wished to be on the higher placing side of the results, this race showed that the state meet in November is going to be a very close race and will most likely come down to a few points again. The Beavers next race will be at the Bronco Invite in Sunnyvale on October 16th
