Lady Beavers perform well at the ARC Invitational

Jocelyn Stillwell led her squad to some great performances at the ARC Track and Field Invitational held at American River on March 27-28. The sophomore ran her first 3k Steeple, hitting the State Qualification mark, in route to winning the event in 12:00.92. Stillwell's mark is currently the third best mark in the state and places her in the ninth best mark in her school's history. She later came back for the "brutal double" and ended up sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:10.34.

Teammate, Mayra Villa, finished second while running her first 3K Steeple. Villa hit the Nor. Cal. Standard in the event at 12:47.10.

Also hitting record status was freshman combined events athlete, MacKenzie Theiler. It was Theiler's first heptathlon who finished a close second with her 4429 points. Her performance qualified her for the State mark and is also the third best mark in the state, as well as fourth best in her school's history.

Sophomore Olivia Brown won the 100m with another State Qualification mark of 12.09. This impressive mark places her fifth best in the state, and seventh in her school's history. She also hit a new personal best mark in the 200 with her 25.41. As if that weren't enough, she was also on the second place 4X100 in 47.22 along with teammates Abigail Finlayson, Tatiana Bell and Imani Thomas.

The ladies 4X400 was an exciting finish by .05 behind Chico State. Ane' Archuleta, Keirnan Hawthrone, Kandace Compton and Morgan Simpson were second with their 3:56.44, which is currently the fourth best time in the state.

Next up for the lady beavers will be the double meets at both San Francisco Distance Carnival and the Stanford Invitational on April 3-4.
