American River Track & Field Women Place 4th at Nor Cal Finals

Nor Cal Champion Abigail Finlayson's first place performance of 11 feet 1.75 inches in the pole vault led a great day of track & field performances for the beavers. The women's pole vault competition was fun and exciting to watch as coach Morey Roscrow's pole vaulters achieved PR's (personal records) by listening to his excellent coaching advice. Abigail achieved a personal best height at 3.25 meters (10 feet 7.95 inches) and then beat that height with her winning 11' 1.75 inch jump. Two PR's in a single day is rare. Alexis Babbes also hit a new PR with her 11' 1.75 second place jump, which equaled the first place height but placed second because of more missed attempts. Both Abigail and Alexis will move on to the state meet next week hosted by ARC. Congratulations to coach Mo and his vaulters.

In the throws events, another PR was achieved by Otolose Bloomfield in the Javelin. Her throw of 34.88 meters (114 feet 5 inches) placed her 3rd in the competition. The top six places in each field event move on to the state competition.  Otolose also earned points for the team by placing 4th in the Shot Put. She is looking forward to earning a PR at the state meet in the Shot Put. In the Discus Throw, Sierra Sheppard earned second place with a mark of 40.98 m (134 feet 5 inches). She is our current school record holder at 139.10 feet who is also looking forward to a new PR during the State Meet Discus competition.

In the High Jump competition, Kyleah Johnson tied her PR with a jump of 1.60 m (5 feet 3 inches) which placed her 4th at the Nor Cal Meet. Lynda Shadman placed 11th in a tough competitive field of jumpers. Carly Kleefeld placed 5th in the 400 meters with a PR time of 57.96 seconds. Ashley Albor placed 6th in the 3000 meter steeple chase and then doubled back for a 6th place finish in the 800 meter run. Danel Camacho placed 11th in the 3000 meter steeple chase finals. The ARC women's 4 x 100 meter relay team of Kyleah Johnson, Anijah Green, Carly Kleefeld, and Alexis Pope placed second with a time of 48.62 seconds. A great day of performances by the ARC Women's Track & Field Team who placed 4th in the Northern California Community College Track & Field Championships.
