Sierra Sheppard breaks her own ARC school record at the California State Meet.

Immediately after unleashing her second throw in the discus competition, Sierra Sheppard jumped up and down with excitement because she knew her throw was another "PR" (personal record). Her throw of 43.09 meters (144 feet & 11/32 inch) was the third time this track season that she reset the school record. The freshman placed third in the State Meet competition hosted by American River College. ARC throws coach Mike Curry was equally excited about the new school record performance.  A coach likes to see his athletes perform their best at the end of the season in the championship meets. This is a job well done by both athlete and coach.

American River College pole vault coach, Morey Roscrow was pleased about the good performances from his pole vaulters. Abigail Finlayson placed sixth with a height of 3.23 meters (10 feet 7 inches) and Alexis Babbes who placed fifth with a height of 3.38 meters (11 feet 1 inch). Both Abigail and Alexis reached a personal record at the Nor Championships with a height of 3.40 meters (11 feet 1.85 inches).

Otolose Bloomfield placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 11.25 meters (36 feet 11 inches). She placed 9th in the Javelin throw with a mark of 33.80 meters (110 feet 11 inches).  Kyleah Johnson placed 11th in the high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters (4 feet 11 inches).  The ARC women's 4 x 100 meter relay team of Kyleah Johnson, Anijah Green, Carly Kleefeld, Alexis Pope achieved a 5th place state meet finish. Their time was a season PR of 47.81, a great coaching performance by coach Richard Kleefeld.

A Big Thank You for all staff, athletes, coaches, parents and friends that helped to make the 2017 CCCAA State Meet a great success.
