#4 Women's Volleyball Finishes 2022 Season as the CCCAA State Championship Runner-Up

The #4 American River College Women's Volleyball program had a great run at the CCCAA State Championships.

The Beavers seeded as the NorCal #3 took on the SoCal #2 seed Orange Coast College in the quarterfinals.  Awelina Fakalata impressed with 22 kills and 19 digs, as teh Beavers defeated Orange Coast in four sets, 25-19, 25-21, 17-25, and 25-15.

The Beavers would then take on Big 8 Conference rival San Joaquin Delta College in the semi-finals.  Many in attendance would describe this match as an instant classic.  The Beavers would jumped out early winning teh first two sets 25-12 and 25-15.  However, San Joaquin Delta would show great resolve and extend the match to the fifth set after winning set three 22-25 and set four 24-26.

The fifth set was a back and forth contest, but on match point Shanaley Iakopo delivered an aced that floated over the net and landed just past the front row to give the Beavers the victory, 16-14.

In the finals the Beavers faced Feather River College, but would ultimately lose in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-16, and 25-21.

The Beavers finish the 2022 season as the CCCAA State Championship Runner-Up, an overall reccord of 25-5, and a #2 state ranking.

Additionally, Shanaley Iakopo and Awelina Fakalata were named to 2022 All-State Tournament Team.
