Lady Beavers Capture Big 8 Conference Title

The American River College Women's Cross Country Team captured their Big 8 Title by scoring an impressive 27 points in Santa Rosa, over the Spring Lake 5K course.  They also had five ladies earn All-Conference Honors by placing in the top 14 finishers overall.

 Jenica Dodge, voted in by her squad as team captain, won the overall title by over half a minute with her 17:59.  Regina Nyareso was third in 19:07, Lucie Chevreuil finished 6th in 20:08 taking 30 seconds off her season best, followed by Ashley Albor's personal best by 16 seconds for 10th in 20:40, and Eleanor Velez's personal best by 48 seconds finishing in 20:47.   All of these ladies were awarded T-shirts and certificates for their All-Conference Honors.

Other lady beavers included ARC's most improved Carissa Salazar (21:45) who sliced off 55 seconds, Jaclyn Leduc (22:00) who took 49 seconds off her previous best mark, Tenanile Fletcher (22:49) who hit a  personal best by 19 seconds and Tamara Howell (22:53).

"We cut our 1-5 spread down to 2:48 and averaged 19:44 for our top five ladies, but most impressive was that we had six new best season marks", says coach Powless.

Next up for the lady beavers will be their NorCal Championships on November 6 in Torro Park, Salinas, before State Meet Championships in Fresno on November 21.
