Lady Beavers out perform ranking to finish 7th in the State
Team Captain, and the only sophomore on the 2015 young cross country squad, Jenica Dodge led her team to an impressive 7th place finish at State Championships. Dodge fished 2nd place over the 5K Woodward Park cross country course. Her new personal best of 17:46 is the second best mark in ARC's history (just behind Jen Schindler's (17:30).
Dodge and Regina Nyareso both earned All American Awards by placing in the top 14 out of over 200 competitors. Nyareso was the first freshman finisher in 5th place 18:22. It was her lifetime best and also most improved on the team cutting off more than 23 seconds from her previous best.
Lucie Chevreuil was our third beaver finisher, with her personal best, in 20:05. Teammate Ashley Albor was next, who also hit a personal best, in 20:28 followed by Eleanor Velez 20:48.
Teammates Carissa Salazar's 21:52 and Jaclyn Leduc's 22:10 finished off the ladies top seven.
With 27 qualifying teams, the beavers were ranked 11th yet ended up placing 7th. They had their best combined time of the season at 1:37:30.
"We had 5 out of 7 personal best marks this race. The ladies ran their best race of the season and have come a long way since early August. Our average improvement, per women, was 2:25 off their overall 5K time from the beginning of the season to the end of season. We just need to keep on working hard through the winter break and be ready for track in early January 2016", says Coach Powless.
