Sophomore team captain, Aryana Archuleta, was the first beaver finisher in their Nor. Cal. Championships held in Salinas, Calif., on November 3rd. She ran a personal best of 20:10 over the challenging three mile course in Toro Park. It was good enough to land the lady beavers in third overall behind Sequoias, and Hartnell.
The next five finishers, all freshman, setting new season best marks included, Haven Lambrite (20:12), Jocelyn Brelsford (20:18), Alyssa Egbert (20:50), Amy Heckeroth (21:13), and Allison Dewolfe (21:38). Heckeroth was the most improved cutting a whopping 2:38 off that same course four weeks earlier.
"The team ran amazingly well. They cut an average of 1:29 off this course from just four weeks ago", said Coach Powless.
"The ladies hard work, this season, is really starting to pay off. We also need to give credit to our new assistant coach, Monique Lakin, who has really inspired them toward marginal gains through consistency in their strength training program", said Coach Powless.
The lady beavers move onto State Meet Championships, which only host seven teams from Northern California. They will compete in Woodward Park, In Fresno on Nov. 18.
