California Community College Cross Country Championships

After coming away as the Big 8 Conference Cross Country Championships last week, American River College had 4 female competitors in the top 14 today (11/5/10) in the Northern California Championships.  Sophomore Courtney Anderson led her team by placing  2nd overall in 18:01 for the challenging 5k course. Julie Scully (18:35) was 6th, 8th was Sara Howard (18:38), Robin Yancey was 35th (20:54), Anna Mendoza was 36th (20:57) Danna Juarez was 45th (21:39) and Mary Pena was 66th at 23:56).

“With our top three beaver finishers gaining lifetime personal bests, and the next two posting seasonal bests, it wasn’t quite enough for the win.  We missed first place by a mere 24 seconds (combined times) or 18 points to Hartnell.  We will get one more shot at them in two weeks at State Meet Championships in Fresno at Woodward Park on Sat. Nov. 20”, says Coach Powless.
