72 Degrees, a little hazy and a chance for a series win was at stake Friday afternoon at Conway Field for the Hawks (8-8, 1-2 Big 8) who unfortunately lost 14 to 12 against visiting American River College. The Hawks offense got off to a very hot start when Freshman Gabriel Ramirez (Capital Christian HS) blasted his second home run of the week, a 3 run job that helped propel the Hawks to take a 4-0 lead heading into the 2nd.
The top of the second inning did not fair well for the Hawks as ARC got seven straight hits and scored eight runs all with two outs against starter Freshman Alan Garcia (Sheldon HS). Sophomore Brett Graber (Capital Christian HS) hit a home run to left field in the second inning bringing in two runs and later in the third singled home a run. The Hawks fought hard all day long and tied the game up in the third inning scoring a total of 5 runs in innings two and three. It just was not enough on the day yet the Hawks fought hard to make a comeback in the later innings but fell short and are now 1-2 in Big 8 play.
Offensive Highlights:
Jack Painter 3x6 2B
Gabriel Ramirez 2x5 HR 3 RBI
Brett Graber 2x4 3 RBI
Lakeal Morris 2x3
The Hawks head into next week where they will square off with Nationally ranked Delta JC on Tuesday in Stockton 2:00 pm First Pitch.
