BEAVERS WIN WILD ONE AT SIERRA, EVEN SERIES
It took 10 innings on Thursday but American River College got their first BIG 8 Conference win of 2026, 10-9 over Sierra College in 10 innings. The Wolverines jumped out early, scoring twice in the first inning and twice again in the 2nd off of starter Ayden Dringenberg (Oakmont). Dringenberg was uncharacteristically wild, only lasting 4 1/3 innings, walking 5 and allowing 7 runs. The Beavers cut the lead in half in the 3rd inning with back-to-back home runs by RF Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City) and CF Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge). Sierra lengthened the lead by 1 with a run in the 4th, but the Beavers were able to even the score at 5 in the 5th inning, thanks to a 2 run double by DH Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) and a single by 2B Lance Sabatke (River City). Sierra got two more in the bottom of the 5th to go up 7-5 but that was all of the runs the hosts would get until the 9th inning. The Beavers tied the game in the 7th thanks to the 2nd home run of the game by Pelechowicz and an RBI double by Sabatke. ARC took the lead in the 8th inning on a wild pitch that scored LF Rylan Pope (McClatchy) and an RBI single by SS Bryce Sabatke (River City). After Sierra tied the game in the 9th off of Pelechowicz, the Beavers took advantage in the 10th of a leadoff single by 3B Luke Haney (Oak Ridge). He moved to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by C Eli Campbell (Cordova). After a fly out advanced Haney to 3rd, he scored on a wild pitch to put the Beavers ahead and Pelechowicz was able to close out the game in the bottom half of the inning. The teams meet for the series finale on Friday for an early 1:00 pm start at Beaver Field.
