Beavers Place 9th at 3C2A State Championships

The American River College (ARC) Men's track and field team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 3C2A State Championships, held on May 16–17 at the College of San Mateo. The Beavers secured 9th place overall with 39 points, marking a strong finish among California's top community college programs.
Team Standings
ARC's 9th-place finish placed them just behind Chabot College (41 points) and ahead of San Mateo College (37.5 points).
Individual Performances
On the first of day competition, Tyrone Brown started off with a huge improvement in the Javelin, throwing 51.72m to place 6th in the field. Tyrone started throwing Javelin part way through the season, brought in a horizontal jumper he quickly learned the skills necessary to compete with the best athletes in the state.
Brian Shine, under illness, performed like to the best of his ability on the day. He secured the 4th spot in the Triple Jump. Brian's determination and competitive spirit all season long has made him a true leader by example for the Beaver squad. His willingness to push the limits each meet is highly regarded.
Rounding out the day 1 competition, Dylan Gschmeidler vaulted to a T-2nd place finish. clearing 14' 11". The transformation of his competitive drive all season long propelled him to place 2nd, A bright future is in store for Dylan in the coming years.
Jamin Guilbert started Day 2 off with a big performance in the Discus, he threw a mark of 52.44m in the opening round but struggled to keep in the ring as the competition went on. Jamin placed 2nd in the Discus and was not able to secure a mark for the Shot Put. A truly remarkable season for Jamin, his performances this year have been eye opening.
The 4x100m team (Halim Tholley, Ethan Sorroza-Stetson, Jeremiah Desmangles-Archie, and Jahi Jones) started the running events with a great performance. A full week off of training due to the fact that they missed the coveted 5th spot at NorCals missing out on punching a ticket to state but as we all know, anything can happen during the championship phase of the season. With a team being later DQ'd the Beavers took the last spot in the event at the State Championships. Placing 8th, this young team is looking for more next year.
Elias Weathers performed to his best ability in the High Jump, placing 6th in the event. With a fantastic opening height jump, Elias was in position to walk away with a huge PR on the season but weather played a factor as it began to pick up throwing off the entire field.
Carson Karr was also another story of being late added to the field. Not event ranked in the top 12 in the state he bested 2 other athletes to take 10th in a tactical race.
Brian Fackert managed as best as he could with the race conditions. A well-run race that showcased himself as a top competitor in the state. Brian placed 6th in the 800m and the top NorCal athlete in the field.
Cyrus Justiniani played the 5000m beautifully. A slow race to start with a lot of jostling for position. Around lap 8 of 12.5 the race began to pick up and with 1000m left in the race Cyrus was poised to hunt down the leader and take the title. It came down to a photo finish as Cyrus was narrowly edged out by a Cuesta athlete (15:27.04) to Cyrus's (15:27.42).
Looking Ahead
With a solid foundation and a roster of talented athletes, the ARC men's track and field team is poised for continued success in upcoming seasons. Their performance at the 2025 3C2A State Championships reflects the program's dedication and competitive spirit.
