Oroville, Calif. - The No. 7 Butte softball team was edged by No. 10 American River, 3-2, in game one of the NorCal Regional round on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Alexis Detwiler and freshman Diana Hull earned a pair of hits each with Detwiler recording the team's lone extra-base hit with a double.
In the circle, sophomore Maggie Smith (17-3) was charged with the loss, allowing only one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts.
Butte (30-10) looks to rebound on Saturday, May 6. First pitch for game two is slated for 12 p.m.
