Oroville, Calif. - Despite a seventh inning rally, the seventh-seeded Butte softball team's season ended in a 4-3 loss to 10th-seeded American River on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Maggie Smith went 3-for-4 at the plate, while freshmen Diana Hull and Ella Jolley both tallied a pair of hits with Hull earning a RBI and Jolley counting the team's lone extra base hit with a double. Sophomore Grace Stearns tallied a pair of RBI in the seventh inning to get the Roadrunners within one.
In the circle, Smith (17-4) was charged with the complete-game loss, allowing seven hits.
Butte finished the 2023 season with a 30-11 overall record, winning its third-straight Golden Valley Conference title.
