In a battle of league rivals, Sierra College Football took down American River in an overtime thriller last Saturday in Rocklin. In front of a sold out stadium, the Wolverines overcame a first half deficit, improving to 5-3 overall in 2021.

It was the Beavers of American River that started strong, scoring twice in the first quarter and leading 14-0. In the second, Sierra began to answer back, scoring twice, but the Beavers held the lead with a touchdown and a successful field goal attempt leading to a halftime score of 24-14 ARC.

The second half saw Sierra begin to come into their own, outscoring ARC 17-0 ini the third quarter, leading 31-24 headed into the 4th. ARC would not go quietly however, scoring a touchdown in the 4th to tie the game and force overtime.

With a successful field goal attempt from ARC, the beavers we're up 34-31, but Sierra answered back with their own field goal to tie the game. But with the Wolverine offense just 8 yards from victory, Sierra again took the lead with a touchdown pass, leading ARC 42-34, a score that would hold for the remainder of the game and secure the Wolverines their 5th victory of 2021.
