The game was actually closer than the score would indicate but the final tally still went against the Beavers as the host dropped the series opener to Delta College 12-1.  ARC starter Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus) allowed an unearned run in the 1st inning but then held the Mustangs scoreless until the 5th.  After recording the first out in the 5th Timmins walked the bases loaded and a pair of runs scored on a single, one on a strikeout that got away from freshman C Aiden Imperial (Bear Creek) and one run on an error by Timmins who lost a chopper hit back to him in the sun, forcing him to throw wildly to first allowing the run to score.  He exited the game allowing five runs, just two earned on just three hits.  Delta College came into the game hitting .365 as a team.  Sophomore RHP Myles Meyer (Placer, Sac State) came on in relief and was impressive, with his fastball topping out at 95 mph.  He finished the 5th inning and threw a three up, three down 6th.  Freshman LHP Jake Morell (Whitney) came on to pitch the 7th and 8th innings.  He allowed two unearned runs in the 7th on no hits, meaning Delta was up 7-0 after 7 innings on just three hits.  Morell retired the first two that he faced in the 8th but then walked a batter and then allowed 5 straight hits to put the game out of reach.  Sophomore LHP Josh Heinkel (Inderkum) had a three up, three down 9th inning.  The Beavers offense couldn't muster much off of Delta starter Connor Semone.  Freshman 2B Rylon Druck (Roseville) led off the game with a single but the ARC offense didn't collect another hit until Aiden Imperial singled to lead off the 6th.  The Beavers scored in the 7th inning after Fr RF Jonas Dyas (Folsom) doubled and was driven in by freshman SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek) who singled to left.  The Beavers and Mustangs will play the second of the three game series Wednesday at University of the Pacific at 2:00 pm.
