American River College entered the 9th inning on Friday trailing 7-2 but they didn't go down easy as the Beavers scored four in the last frame and had runners on 1st and 3rd, but the rally came up just short as they fell 7-6.  Starting pitcher Wyatt Bahlke (Woodcreek) was effectively wild through the first 4 innings as he only allowed two hits but in the 5th he walked the bases loaded with one out.  Freshman David Centeno (Roseville) came in to replace Bahlke but he gave up a grand slam to put the Hawks up 6-0.  The Beavers had hit the ball hard early in the game but didn't have much to show for it until SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek) tripled in a run in the 7th inning.  He later scored on a single by 3B Anthony Packard (Colfax).  The Hawks got a run back in the 7th and that turned out to be a big one as the Beavers opened the 9th with a leadoff double by RF Jonas Dyas (Folsom).  C Duncan Hansen (Del Campo) then stroked his second home run of the season over the left field fence to make the score 7-4.  After Packard reached second on an error CF Dominic Ott (Woodcreek) singled up the middle to score Packard and make the score 7-5.  2B Rylon Druck (Roseville) then walked and DH Jullian Blackwell (EastVale) singled up the middle to score Ott and put runners at 1st and 3rd.  1B Jake Morell (Whitney) came up with two hits already on the day but he struck out to end the game.  The Beavers out hit CRC 12-5 but ARC's pitchers walked 9 and hit 2 on the day which accounted for several of the CRC runs.

The Beavers come home on Tuesday to play the Folsom Lake Falcons at 2:30.  There are just two more series left in the 2023 season, with Folsom Lake coming up and the big cross-town rivalry with Sac City College the following week.
