Beavers Drop First Game to Sac City 7-5

It is a storied rivalry whose games have decided many conference championships over the years.  This is not one of those years.  With the Sac City Panthers in 8th place and the ARC Beavers in 9th there is not a whole lot riding on the line in this season ending series.  But there is the rivalry and the game today came down to the wire with Sac City holding off ARC 7-5 at Beaver Field.  The Beavers got on the board first, in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by RF Jonas Dyas (Folsom).  Sac City answered back in the third with a solo home run off of sophomore starter Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus), who was making his final start in a Beaver uniform.  The Panthers took the lead in the 4th with a pair of runs and then added three in the 5th to go up 6-1.  But the Beavers stormed right back plating 4 in the bottom of the 5th, with two of the runs coming on a single by SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek).  The Panthers would get an insurance run in the 7th however to go up 7-5.  The Beavers threatened in the 8th getting runners to 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs but could not cash them in.  They brought the tying run to the plate in the 9th as well but that rally was also stopped short.  Freshman 2B Rylon Druck (Roseville) had three hits on the day for the Beavers.  The two teams meet again on Thursday at Union Stadium on the campus of Sac City College at 2:30 pm.
