Beavers Season Comes to a Disappointing End

Beavers Season Comes to a Disappointing End

In what will go down statistically the worst season in program history, the 2023 season ended with a loss to cross-town rival Sacramento City College 9-5 on Friday.  The Beavers will miss the playoffs this season.  Sophomore RHP Matt Kelly (Oak Hills) started on the mound and held the Panthers scoreless through the first two innings, but the Panthers tallied 4 unearned runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead.  The Beavers had scored in the 2nd inning on a fielders choice by SS David Centeno (Roseville).  ARC did come back however and scored twice in the bottom of the third with freshman DH Tyler Moore (Del Campo) driving in a run on a ground out.  Sac City regained the lead in the 4th off of freshman LHP Jake Morell (Whitney) but the Beavers came back and tied the game in the bottom of the 5th thanks to a double to the left-center fence by 3B Jullian Blackwell (Eastside).  Unfortunately that was all the runs the Beavers would get but Sac City was able to get the go-ahead run in in the 6th inning, then add on with two runs in the 8th and one in the 9th

Tyler Moore led the way for the Beavers on offense with a three-hit performance, and CF Dominic Ott (Woodcreek) and Jullian Blackwell each had a pair of hits on the day.

Although the season was a disappointment from a wins standpoint, the coaches would like to thank everyone who came out to support the team throughout the season and are looking forward to 2024.
