American River College held their first annual Bucky Awards Wednesday night honoring student-athletes from all 19 sports from the 2022-23 seasons.  Baseball sophomore Christian Lucero (River City) won the male Sophomore of the Year Award, given to the sophomore who had the greatest contributions to his team.  Jullian Blackwell (Eastside) won the Most Inspirational Male Athlete of the Year Award, which honored the student-athlete who has overcome adversity to achieve at a high level during the season.  Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus) won the male Leadership Award, which he earned for his leadership on and off the field throughout the school year.  "It was a great to see those guys up on the stage and being recognized amongst their peers", said Head Coach Doug Jumelet.  "Our season didn't turn out the way we wanted it to at all but it doesn't mean that we didn't have some pretty special people out there doing some pretty special things.  This was a really nice acknowledgement of that."
