Football Opens Conference with Dominant Win Over Shasta College

The American River College Football program opened conference play with a dominant 56-7 win over Shasta College.

The Beavers defense held Shasta to just 159 total yards and 12 rushing yards.  Josh Tremain led the defensive with 8 tackles, while Kaleb Larson added 5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and an interception.  Matthew Kendall would also add 4 tackles from his position in the secondary and pass break up.

Offensively, the Beavers tallied 576 yards total, netting 310 yards through the air and 266 yards on the ground.  The Beavers began their strong offensive performance with 11 play drive that ended in a 4 yard touchdown pass from Kenneth Lueth to Seth Bozzi.

With a 7-0 lead, the Beavers would successfully recover an onside kick and march the ball down to the endzone in 5 plays that finished with a 4 yard touchdown pass from Kenneth Lueth to Robert Freeman.

With a 14-0 lead, Kenneth Lueth found Zoltan Holmly with a 38 yard strike for the touchdown to expand the Beavers lead to 21-0.  Running back Kacie Riley would close the first half out with a 13 yard touchdown run to give the Beavers a 28-0 lead.

In the third quarter the scoring continued as Avant Jacobs would run for a 7 yard touchdown,  Kenneth Lueth would connect with Seth Bozzi on a 25 yard touchdown pass, and Anthony Johnston ran for a 1 yard touchdown.

With a 49-0 lead, Frank Arcuri would close out the scoring for the Beavers in the fourth quarter with a 2 yard touchdown run to close out a 1 play drive, expanding the Beavers lead to 56-0.  Shasta would be able to get on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter to make the final score 56-7.

The Beavers will continue conference play this Saturday, October 21st, as they go on the road to play Butte College at 1 PM.
