HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

Football Impressive at Home Against Santa Rosa Junior College

Lueth eludes pressure

The American River College Football program impressed over the weekend after defeating Santa Rosa Junior College 54-16.

Coming off a great road victory against then #5 Butte College, the Beavers did not let their foot off the gas against Santa Rosa Junior College.  The Beavers defense held the high-flying Santa Rosa offense to just 196 total yards, including only 34 yards rushing and forcing one turnover.  Josh Tremain lead the Beavers in tackling again with 8 total tackles, while Desmin Hatfield-Rushton added 5 total tackles.  Cole Gustafson was able to get to the quarterback multiple times with his 3 sacks and Michael Chavez added an interception to go along with his 3 tackles.

Offensively, the Beavers jumped out to the early 21-0 lead after Kenneth Lueth connected with tight end Seth Bozzi on a 2 yard and 29 yard touchdown respectively, while All-American returner Robert Freeman returned a punt 81 yards for the touchdown.  This is the second straight game that Robert Freeman has returned a punt for a touchdown.

After an ARC snap went over the head of the quarterback that led to a Santa Rosa safety, the Beavers responded with two touchdowns to close out the first half.  Kenneth Lueth connected with receiver Mikaiah Stephenson for a 3 yard touchdown to give the Beavers a 27-2 lead, followed by a Kenneth Lueth to Robert Freeman 14 yard touchdown pass to expand the Beavers lead to 34-2.

Coming out the half, the Beavers would expand the lead to 54-2 after Kenneth Lueth connected with Avant Jacobs on a 53 yard touchdown pass, Quincy Gallon connected with Kacie Riley on a 7 yard touchdown pass, and Elias Brown ran for a 23 yard touchdown.

Santa Rosa would find the endzone late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter resulting in a final score of 54-16.  The Beavers will seek to secure the conference title and a spot in the 3C2A State playoffs this week as they host Sierra College on Saturday, November 4th at 1 PM in the final regular season home game.
