Football Secures Conference Title and 3C2A Playoff Spot with Win Over #15 Sierra College

The American River College Football program secured the NorCal Conference with a dominant 63-21 victory over rival #15 Sierra College.  With the win, the Beavers not only won the NorCal Conferernce Championship but also sealed a spot in the 3C2A playoffs.

The Beavers' defense would spark the onslaught after an interception by Desmin Hatfield-Rushton on Sierra's opening drive, while adding an additonal turnover later in the first half.  Linebacker Josh Tremain led the Beavers' defense with 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, while Kaleb Larson and Cole Gustafson added 7 tackles and 1 tackle for loss respectively.

Offensively the Beavers would capitalize on Sierra first turnover with a one play drive when running back Avant Jacobs ran for a 39 yard touchdown, giving the Beavers a 7-0 lead.  After a three and out by Sierra, the Beavers wouild cap a four play 60 yard drive with a 21 yard touchdown pass from Kenneth Lueth to Robert Freeman.  Quarterback Quincy Gallon would run the ball in for a two-point conversion, giving the Beavers a 15-0 lead.

Sierra would respond on their next drive, connecting for a 69 touchdown pass to cut the Beavers lead to 15-7.  However, the Beavers respond with 29 straight points after a powerfuld 1 yard touchdown run by running back Kacie Riley, a 26 yard field goal by Logan McCreery, 6 yard touchdown pass from Kenneth Lueth to Cole Gustafson, and a 3 yard touchdown run by Kacie Riley.

After taking a 39-7 lead into the third quarter, the Beavers continued to put the ball in the endzone by taking their first drive of the third quarter 64 yards and capping it off with a 39 yard touchdown pass from Kenneth Lueth to Robert Freeman.

Sierra would cut the lead to 46-14 after a 53 yard touchdown pass.  The Beavers would expand the lead to 49-14 with a Logan McCreery 28 yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Sierra would respond back with a 5 yard touchdown pass to get the score to 49-21, but the Beavers would add a 5 yard touchdown run from quarterback Frank Arcuri and a 87 yard punt return by Aurelio Filippini to seal the victory and make the final score 63-21.

The Beavers will close out conference play on the road as they travel to play Feather River College on Saturday, November 11th, at 1 PM.
