Bio

Coach Tami Wooden has been with ARC Football since the ‘07 season as one of the Strength and Conditioning Coaches. Former Head Coach, Jerry Haflich brought Wooden on board in because of her previous experience at the University level. She was ecstatic when Coach O decided to keep her on when he took over the program. “It’s been an honor and pleasure to learn from other coaches and to help coach these young men with student-athlete success strategies.” Tami had coaching stints previously at University of the Pacific (Coach Chuck Shelton), New Mexico State University (Coach Tony Samuels), and Allen High School, Dallas, Texas. (Coach Todd Graham)

She holds a BS in Exercise Physiology, (CSU, Sacramento), MS in Educational Counseling (National University) and MA in Sport Science (University of the Pacific). Tami holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-1992) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA WeightLifting (Club Coach -1994), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES-2015), National Academy of Sports Medicine and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach (2018). Staying involved with continuing education in all areas of peak performance will always be important to Coach Wooden.  Other part-time work at ARC has been teaching College Success for student-athletes, HCD 310, and a Coordinator for Career Education in Dual Enrollment since 2021.

Tami first began as a teacher in 1990 as part-time faculty at ARC and other community colleges in the area in the Kinesiology, Athletics and Health Education departments. Tami’s passion of helping others achieve peak performance stems from her own athletic background as a 5 sport letter woman at Fairfield High School. Sports included fast-pitch Softball (CA state champions at 15 and represented the USA in Taiwan),track, basketball, volleyball and tennis.  Wooden chose to pursue tennis at the collegiate level when she went on to play at the University of Arkansas. Other athletic pursuits and passions have included bodybuilding, powerlifting, railroad handcar races and mini triathlons. She has tried to follow in the footsteps of her family of college-athletes, coaches, teachers and caring souls. Let’s pay it forward!
