For the first time in program history, the ARC men's tennis team qualified every starting singles player and doubles team for the CCCAA State Individual Championships. This year the tournament will be hosted by Mt. San Antonio College from May 6th through May 7th, and will feature the best players from Northern California facing off against the top players from Southern California. The regional event was a one-day competition, hosted by West Valley College, to reach the quarterfinals. All 8 quarterfinalists in singles and doubles qualify for the state event. In the singles Ravi Nelson (#1 seed), Zac Prince (#2 seed), and Micah Erwin (#3 seed) all received first round byes and cruised in their 2nd round matches to reach the quarterfinals. Robin Sharma (#5 seed) had a tough draw, needing to beat Ben Deriquito from Chabot in the 1st round and Diego Rodriguez (#12 seed) from FLC in the 2nd round. Sharma played very well and beat both in straight sets. Parker Perdue (#11 seed) and Justin Le (#12 seed) both needed to upset higher seeded players to qualify, and each stepped up playing some of their best tennis of the season to clinch their bid to the state event. Perdue was matched up against 8th seeded Marius Engelmann from Foothill, and won a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 match to punch his ticket. Le faced Foothill #1 player, and 5th seeded, Andy Fang in the qualifying round and came out on top 6-2, 6-4 to earn his berth to states. In the doubles, the Beavers had the top 3 seeded teams in the tournament. Erwin/Nelson (#1), Prince/Sharma (#2), and Le/DJ Sobrepena (#3) all won their qualifying matches to make it 9 for 9 (6 singles and 3 doubles) to qualify for the state tourney.
