The Beavers played their first team matches of the year versus UC Davis and Sac State. ARC lost both matches, but gave their NCAA D1 opponents great individual competition.

Against UC Davis, the #1 doubles duo of Micah Erwin and Ravi Nelson came back from an early break to get the match back on serve, but they were broken late and fell 6-4. At #2 doubles Justin Le and Zac Prince lost by a single break, 6-3. The closest match in singles was at #3 where Erwin played Mitchell Davis and came up just short in two tight sets, 7-5, 6-4. Parker Perdue also played well for the Beavers in singles, losing by the score of 6-3, 6-3 to Abee Eedara at #6.

ARC came out with great energy against Sac State in the doubles. Erwin/Nelson played their best match to date, competing evenly with the Sac State #1 team of Keki/Voros, eventually falling to the Hornet team 6-4. At #2 doubles, Prince/Le lost a very competitive match 6-3, and #3 doubles went unfinished as the Sharma brothers, Robin and Tarish, were at 3-4, 30-30 when the doubles point was clinched for Sac State. In singles, Zac Prince (#4) played Jan Silva tough, losing the first set 7-6(2) as the match was abandoned due to the clinch. Ravi Nelson also gave a great effort, battling the Sac State #1, Mark Keki, in a tough 2nd set. The set was on serve at 4-5 when Keki broke Nelson’s serve to seal the win for Sac State.

The Beavers will next host William Jessup University on Tuesday, February 1st at 2:00p on the Donnelly-Freund courts.
