Fresno Pacific Invitational Recap

Fresno Pacific Invitational Recap

In the final non-traditional tournament of the fall for the Beavers, they tested their level against four-universities Fresno Pacific, Holy Names, Menlo College, and William Jessup. The tournament was run as a Hidden Dual Round Robin, meaning the Beavers were matched up against the other teams' corresponding number in both singles and doubles play, without actually competing in dual team matches.

Highlights for the Beavers included Ravi Nelson going 2-1 in singles at the #1 position, including victories over Brodie Sodersten (FPU) by the score of 6-2, 6-0 and Beto Carlon (WJU) 6-1, 6-0. Parker Perdue earned his sole singles victory at the #2 position against Isaac Graves (WJU) 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Spencer Hill played the #3 and #4 positions for the Beavers, beating David Perez (WJU) 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 and losing a close match to Emmanuel Azam (MC) 7-6(3), 7-6(3). Shane Timmons earned a win at the #3 spot against Afra Zand (MC) in a hard-fought 3-setter 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.

Other Beavers to earn singles victories in the tournament were Sam Kassis, Patrick Wall, and Terrance Yip, all of whom won straight set matches at the #5 and #6 positions. In the doubles the Beavers did not enjoy as much as in the singles. In the final doubles matchup against William Jessup, ARC won their only two doubles points, with Hill/Nelson winning at #1 and Perdue/Timmons beating the WJU #2 team. Each won by the score of 6-4. The Beavers will take the rest of the fall to train in preparation of the upcoming spring season.
