The Beavers faced off against their hometown rival, the William Jessup University Warriors. The Warriors are an NAIA program in their second year of competition and have made significant improvements from their first season. The match was played under the NAIA guidelines, where the doubles are only a 6-game set, and all 3 doubles matches are worth a single point. Additionally, no-add scoring is used, meaning it is game point at 40-40. ARC clinched the doubles point when the #2 team of Jack Hall/Lenny Lin held off the Warriors late surge, holding at 5-4 to seal the doubles victory. The #3 tandem of Jason Hom/Shane Timmons also won handily at #3 by the score of 6-3. In the singles, the Beavers needed 3 points to earn the dual team win. They were able to earn those wins by way of Ravi Nelson (#1), Shane Timmons (#4), and Spencer Hill (#5). Nelson faced off against Roger Wen and won a match that felt much closer than the one-sided 6-2, 6-1 score. Coach Bo Jabery Madison explained, "Ravi has a knack for playing his best tennis on the big points. His decisions become better, and he never gives up on a point. In the no-add scoring system this is a huge advantage, making close matches look easy from the score lines." Timmons was the only Beaver to earn points in both singles and doubles on the day with his 6-0, 6-3 victory over Tanner Sitanggang. Hill was the most dominant singles performer on the day, winning his match 6-0, 6-0 over Josue Madiana. ARC will start conference play at home on Tuesday, February 21st when they face off against Shasta College.
