Bio

Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Stanford University in 1987 and a master’s degree in counseling at California State University, Sacramento in 1993.  His college coaching experience includes 19 years as the men’s coach at UC Davis from 1993 to 2012.  His teams won the UCD Men’s Team GPA Award eight times and the NCAA Division I Big West Conference Men’s Tennis Sportsmanship Award twice in the five years that he coached his teams in the conference.

 

Lee’s teams advanced to the NCAA Division II Team Championships for nine consecutive years.  During this time he coached eight All-Americans and was West Region Coach of the Year twice.  His team attained a national ranking during their first year in NCAA Division I, and multiple doubles teams attained national rankings while in Division I.

 

Notable student-athletes during Lee’s tenure at UCD include Greg Lee and Nick Lopez.  Lee was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, UCD Male Athlete of the Year, inducted into the UCD Athletics Hall of Fame, and attained an Association of Tennis Professionals Tour singles ranking while competing in his first professional tournament.  Lopez was honored as a Big West Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

 

Lee has mentored junior players to earn college scholarships including Brandon Sutter (Stanford University), Lauren Curry (UCD), and Audrey Rafols (Dominican University of California).

“Bo was one of the best leaders I had on the team during my 19 years at UCD due to his work ethic and integrity.  He runs the American River College program better than most Division I programs.”
