Men's Cross Country At Chabot Twilight

The American River Men's XC team raced a unique cross country race this weekend at the Chabot Twilight. Instead of the usual 4 miles on a course, they raced a 5k on the track that had cross country scoring rules. The guys were very excited going into the race as they could test out their fitness over a shorter distance on a track. The Beavers came out and raced great! Majority of the team not only ran fast times, most of them even ran their personal best or very close to it over the 5k track distance! In a repeat of the last race, the Beavers were just short of beating a very good Hartnell team 30-35. The depth of the team really showed up though as 5 guys ran under the 2020 CCCAA State Track 5k qualifying time of 15:20, and 11 ran under 16 minutes! That sort of depth with all Freshman is the kind of depth that some 4 year schools would desire to have with Freshman-Seniors let alone just Freshman. Scoring wise, the Beavers had 7 guys finish before Hartnell's 5th, however, Hartnell had 3 runners before ARC's #2 which was the difference in the team scoring.
