Despite inclement weather over the weekend, the American River College Softball program defeated Butte College on the road 2-0 and 4-3 to advance to the second round of the CCCAA playoffs.

The Beavers ranked #9/#10 in the seedings received a dominant pitching performance by Bree Romero in game one, shutting out the #7 seeded Butte College Roadrunners.  Taylor McKay added two outstanding defensive plays including an incredible throw to Jordyn Wurzer at the plate for a critical out.  Jordyn Wurzer's 235 foot two-run bomb in the top of the fourth inning put the Beavers up for good.

In game two the Beavers would jump out to the early 4-0 lead scoring two runs in the second and sixth innings.  Butte College would score three in the top of the seventh to make the game interesting.  However, the Beavers were able to hold on for the 4-3 victory.  Alexa Garcia would go 3 for 3 including a perfect squeeze bunt.

The Beavers will travel to take on the #2 seeded College of San Mateo Bulldogs on Friday, May 12th, for game one and Saturday, May 13th, for game two and three (if necessary).
