The Beavers forfeited the final game of the season to the Wolverines.


February 19, 2008

Modesto 80, ARC 58

15-15 Overall

4-9 Conference

The Beavers fell behind early, chipped away before the half, and then could not get closer than a few baskets in the second half.  Trista Rossi turned in a strong performance, finishing with a team-high 21 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Gretchen Tiernan had 13 points, and Leslie Montgomery pulled down nine rebounds.

Modesto 80, ARC 58

15-15 Overall

 

The Beavers fell behind early, chipped away before the half, and then could not get closer than a few baskets in the second half.  Trista Rossi turned in a strong performance, finishing with a team-high 21 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Gretchen Tiernan had 13 points, and Leslie Montgomery pulled down nine rebounds.

Sacramento City 61, ARC 59

15-14 Overall

4-8 Conference

The Beavers had some outstanding individual performances, but they were not enough in another two-point loss to the Panthers.  ARC fell behind but staged a nice comeback in the second half, but could not get the lead back late in the game.  Gretchen Tiernan led the team with 17 points, the only player in double digits.  Sierra Thomas added nine, and Dubonnet Flagg produced eight points and a team-high 12 rebounds.  Trista Rossi finished with eight assists in the game.

ARC 61, Cosumnes River 45 

15-13 Overall

 4-7 Conference

Prior to the game, the Beavers received confirmation that their first round loss to Sac City was a forfeit win due to an illegible player, and then they went out and downed the Hawks to put themselves in the playoff picture.  ARC had to overcome a sluggish start, but the offense picked up as the defense tightened down.  Gretchen Tiernan led ARC with 17 points and seven assists, and Shanice Johnson and Camille Brown finished with 15 and 10 points, respectively.  Sierra Thomas pulled down 11 rebounds.

Santa Rosa 68, ARC 54

13-14 Overall  

2-8 Conference

The Beavers had some outstanding individual performances, but they were not enough to hold off the hot shooting Bear Cubs.  Gretchen Tiernan finished with 24 points, hitting on four of her eight treys.  Shanice Johnson added nine points and three assists to the ARC offense.  Leslie Montgomery had a strong game inside, totaling eight points and a career-high 17 rebounds.  Dubonnet Flagg, who pulled down 17 boards on Tuesday, grabbed 12 more against Santa Rosa.

ARC 55, Diablo Valley 51 

13-13 Overall

2-7 Conference

The Beavers came from behind in the second half against the Vikings, and then ARC clamped down defensively and hit key shots to earn the conference win.  Gretchen Tiernan led ARC with 25 points, hitting on 3-of-5 three point attempts, including a key trey in the final minute of the game.  She also iced the game by swishing a pair of free throws with under 10 second left.  Dubonnet Flagg grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds, and Trista Rossi finished with 10 boards, four assists, and an aggressive steal on Diablo Valley’s final possession.

Delta 70, ARC 48  

12-13 Overall

 1-7 Conference

The Beavers had three players score in double figures and two players pull down 10 rebounds, but the top-ranked Mustangs still powered their way to the Big 8 win.  Shanice Johnson led ARC scorers with 14 points while Gretchen Tiernan (13 points) and Trista Rossi (10) both finished in double digits.  Dubonnet Flagg and Leslie Montgomery both pulled down 10 boards.


January 29, 2008

Sierra 79, ARC 63

12-12 Overall

1-6 Conference

The Beavers were hot from the three point line, but not hot enough to top the Wolverines.  Gretchen Tiernan connected on 7-of-12 treys and finished with a game-high 29 points.  Kellee Stoehr hit all three of her three pointers and totaled 11 points.  Leslie Montgomery led the team with nine rebounds.


January 25, 2008

Modesto 86, ARC 63

12-11 Overall 

1-5 Conference

The Beavers went on the road to take on the Pirates, but came up short in the Big 8 contest.  Gretchen Tiernan led all scorers with 26 points, hitting on 6-of-14 treys, and Leslie Montgomery and Sierra Thomas each tossed in seven.  Trista Rossi, regaining strength after missing five games due to injury, finished with 12 points, four assists, and eight rebounds.


January 22, 2008

Sacramento City 63, ARC 61

12-10 Overall

1-4 Conference

Camille Brown hit two free throws with three seconds remaining to give the Beavers a one-point lead in the Big 8 game against the Panthers.  But following a time out, Sac City hit a streaking player who nailed the lay up with under a second left, giving the Panthers the win.  Brown finished the game with 15 points, a total matched by ARC’s Gretchen Tiernan, who also had nine rebounds in the game.  Shanice Johnson added 14 points, and Leslie Montgomery also pulled down nine boards.


January 18, 2008

ARC 95, Cosumnes River 76

12-9 Overall

1-3 Conference

Gretchen Tiernan poured in 42 points to lead the Beavers to their first Big 8 win as they outran the Hawks.  Tiernan connected on 6-of-11 from the three-point line and made 50% of her shots from the floor.  She also had a team-high seven assists.  Leslie Montgomery also had a big game against CRC, notching another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.  Kellee Stoehr finished with 18 points, making nine of her 11 shots, and Camille Brown added 13 points with a hot 6-for-8 shooting performance.

Santa Rosa 57, ARC 52

11-9 Overall

 0-3 Conference

The undermanned Beavers dropped their third consecutive Big 8 contest, getting edged out by the Bear Cubs.  Gretchen Tiernan finished with a game-high 24 points, but she was the only ARC player in double figures.  The team, depleted by injuries, has struggled to find scoring to support Tiernan.  Leslie Montgomery had another solid performance, collecting six points and 11 rebounds.  Dubonnet Flagg also had 11 boards in the game.

Diablo Valley 57, ARC 41

11-8 Overall

0-2 Conference

The Beavers’ Dubonnet Flagg had her first double-double of the season with a 14-point, 11-rebound effort, but it was not enough as ARC fell to the Vikings.  Gretchen Tiernan added 14 points, but she was the only other ARC player in double figures.

Delta 71, ARC 54

11-7 Overall

0-1 Conference

The Beavers opened the Big 8 season against the highly-ranked Mustangs with a roster cut down by injuries, and ARC eventually gave in to the relentless pressure of Delta.  Shanice Johnson led the Beavers with 17 points, and Camille Brown added 13. Gretchen Tiernan was held to just seven points, but she also had a team-high three assists.  Leslie Montgomery was ARC’s top rebounder, with nine.

ARC 71, Skyline  61

11-6 Overall

0-0 Conference

In their final tune up before conference opens, the Beavers topped the Trojans with a balance scoring attack.  Gretchen Tiernan led all scorers with 23 points while Camille Brown and Shanice Johnson finished with 14 and 12, respectively.  Leslie Montgomery pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds.

December 20-22, 2007

Merced 47, ARC 46

10-6 Overall 

 0-0 Conference

The Beavers got edged by the Blue Devils in the tournament’s third-place game.  Gretchen Tiernan led the way with 17 points, and Trista Rossi chipped in 10 to lead ARC, which also benefited from a strong 6-point, 15-rebounds performance by Leslie Montgomery.

Foothill 75, ARC 45

10-5 Overall

 0-0 Conference

The Beavers ran into one of the state’s top teams in the second round, and the Owls soared past ARC.  Gretchen Tiernan finished with 16 points, and Trista Rossi added 10 points and eight rebounds, but it was not enough to slow the Foothill machine.

ARC 81, Yuba 71

10-4 Overall 

0-0 Conference

The Beavers opened the tournament with a convincing win over the 49ers.  Playing Yuba for the second time in eight days, ARC made it a clean sweep behind Trista Rossi, who turned in one of the season’s best individual performances.  The sophomore scored 25 points and pulled in a career-high 26 rebounds to lead ARC.  Leslie Montgomery finished with 19 points, Shanice Johnson added 11 by sinking 11 of her 16 free throws, and Gretchen Tiernan had a team-high six assists.


December 15, 2007

DeAnza 55, ARC 51

9-4 Overall

0-0 Conference

The Beavers dropped a close one to the Dons, despite balanced scoring.  Trista Rossi was everywhere in the game, leading the team with 14 points, six assists, and seven rebounds.  Shanice Johnson finished with 11 points, and Gretchen Tiernan added eight points.  Leslie Montgomery had another solid outing, scoring eight points and grabbing seven boards.

ARC 65, Yuba 62

9-3 Overall

0-0 Conference

The Beavers had three players in double figures as they edged the 49ers in a home game.  Gretchen Tiernan, who hit five three-pointers, finished with a team-high 22 points.  Leslie Montgomery had another double-double, totaling 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Trista Rossi added 11 points.  Camille Brown and Shanice Johnson each dished out five assists.

ARC 76, Marin 33

8-3 Overall 

0-0 Conference

The Beavers won their third in a row by dropping the Mariners in the non-league contest.  In a game filled with highlights, Gretchen Tiernan took the spotlight with seven threes in 13 attempts.  She finished with 27 points in the rout.  Camille Brown contributed 14 points, Trista Rossi added nine points and a team-high seven assists, and Leslie Montgomery pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds.

ARC 75, Redwoods 59

7-3 Overall  

0-0 Conference

The Beavers swept the back-to-back home contests with a win over the Corsairs.  ARC’s offense ran off an early lead, and the Beavers never were threatened.  Gretchen Tiernan poured in 27 points, connecting on six treys, to lead three players in double figures; she also led the team with seven assists.  Trista Rossi finished with 15 points, and Leslie Montgomery added 12 for ARC.  Sierra Thomas had a team-high nine boards.  Kellee Stoehr again anchored a stingy Beaver defense.

ARC 68, Taft 59 

6-3 Overall 

0-0 Conference

The Beavers held off the Cougars with a solid performance at both ends of the court.  Trista Rossi and Leslie Montgomery led the offense impressive double-doubles.  Rossi finished with a team-high 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Montgomery totaled 14 points and 15 boards.  Shanice Johnson contributed 15 points for ARC.  Gretchen Tiernan, who had six assists, was held to single digit points for the first time this season.

Grossmont 66, ARC 63

5-3 Overall 

 0-0 Conference

The Beavers had three players score in double figures but still got edged by the Griffins. Gretchen Tiernan led all scorers with 21 points; Trista Rossi added 15 and Shanice Johnson finished with 11. Tiernan led the team in assists with six in the game, and Dubonnet Flagg pulled down 11 boards.

ARC 71, East Los Angeles 51 

5-2 Overall

0-0 Conference

The Beavers scored early and often against the Huskies, pulling away for a convincing win in the second round of the tournament.  Gretchen Tiernan led a balanced scoring attack as four players recorded double figures.  Tiernan led the team with 17 points and nine assists while Trista Rossi finished with 16 points, Leslie Montgomery added 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, and Kellee Stoehr chipped in 11 points.

Cypress 70, ARC 64

4-2 Overall 

 0-0 Conference

The Beavers put on a late surge but came up short in the opening round against the host Chargers.  Gretchen Tiernan poured in a team-high 16 points and dished out six assists to lead the offense.  Trista Rossi had another outstanding performance, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds, her first double-double of the season.  Shanice Johnson added 12 points for ARC.

ARC 74, Shasta 63 

4-1 Overall 

0-0 Conference

The Beavers made it three in a row with the home win over the Knights.  Gretchen Tiernan again led all scorers with 29 points, but she had plenty of help to hold off a highly-regarded Shasta team.  Leslie Montgomery added 15 points, hitting 7-of-10 shots from the floor, and Kellee Stoehr also had a hot hand, finishing with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting.  Shanice Johnson led the team with six assists while Trista Rossi pulled down a team-high 13 boards.

ARC 82, Monterey Peninsula 67

3-1 Overall

0-0 Conference

Gretchen Tiernan followed up her 25-point performance last week with a 26-point effort against the Lobos.  Tiernan, a sophomore, connected on seven three pointers in the win.  ARC, which led by 13 at the half, built its lead in the last 20 minutes with balanced support around Tiernan.  Shanice Johnson contributed 14 points, and Trista Rossi and Camille Brown each finished with 13.


COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE TOURNAMENT

November 9-11, 2007

 ARC 68, Cosumnes River 65

2-1 Overall   

0-0 Conference

The Beavers beat the host Hawks in the third-place game.  Gretchen Tiernan poured in 25 points to lead ARC, connecting on four treys in the game, giving her nine for the tournament.  Tiernan’s three pointer and two pointer in the final minute sealed the win in another nail-biter.  Trista Rossi added 16 points and Shanice Johnson contributed 13.

Delta 77, ARC 61  

1-1 Overall 

0-0 Conference

In a match up with a Big 8 power, the Beavers fell behind early but made a second half run at the Mustangs.  Three ARC players scored 13 points apiece—Trista Rossi, Shanice Johnson, and Gretchen Tiernan.

0-0 Conference

The Beavers opened the season by edging the Roadrunners in the Cosumnes River Tournament.  Dubonnet Flagg, who led the team with 17 points, hit a free throw with seconds left to give ARC the one-point advantage.  Four other players scored in double figures for the Beavers:  Leslie Montgomery finished with 16 points, Gretchen Tiernan and Shanice Johnson each added 15, and Trista Rossi contributed 13.  Tiernan hit four of the team’s eight three-point baskets.
