Sophomore outside Hitter, Awelina Fakalata was named the State Player of the Week by the CCCWVCA.

A returning All-State selection, Fakalata scored a pair of double-doubles in American River's Big 8 Conference victories over Sierra and Cosumnes River. She buried 15 kills with 11 digs and 3 aces in a sweep over Sierra and then 13 kills and 13 digs in the CRC victory. Fakalata is seventh in the state in points, seventh in overall kills, and eighth in kills per set (4.26).
