Bio

BJ is back for his second sophomore year, after injuring his arm last year he was granted a medical redshirt year, allowing him to come back and play this year despite pitching in 6 games last year.  BJ will factor in as a reliever again this year, hoping to regain the form that saw him have a sub 2.00 ERA in 2016.  BJ was a three sport star at Valley Christian Academy in Roseville where he also played football and basketball for the Lions.  On the baseball field at VCA he also played 2B and was the Beavers emergency infielder his freshman year.  BJ appeared in the first game of the season his freshman year, throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings against West Valley College on January 28^th, 2016.  He threw a season high 2 1/3 innings in the Beavers 10-3 victory over Cosumnes River College on March 10^th.  He struck out two in that game.  He also had a pair of strikeouts in two innings of work to earn his first college win, a 5-4 victory over CRC on March 17^th.  BJ’s parents are Julie and Rick Marshall.

Coach Jumelet says, “BJ was very solid for us his freshman year and we really hope that he can return to that form.  He has only really been throwing since January, so early on we will have to be patient and use him in the right spots, but as he gets going he could add a significant dose of experience and leadership to our bullpen.”
