Falcons Fly High: Folsom Lake Dominates American River 70-49

Folsom Lake College Stays Strong at Home, Defeats American River 70-49

The Folsom Lake College Falcons delivered a commanding performance Friday night, defeating the American River College Beavers 70-49 in a matchup that showcased the Falcons' depth and teamwork.

The Falcons set the tone early, outscoring the Beavers 19-12 in the first quarter and never relinquishing control. A dominant second quarter, highlighted by a 25-9 run, solidified Folsom Lake's lead as they went into halftime with a commanding 44-21 advantage.

Balanced Offense and Defensive Dominance

The Falcons excelled on both ends of the court. Freshman forward Emily Bowman led the charge with 18 points on 9-of-16 shooting, pulling down seven rebounds and adding two blocks. Guard Gianna Darte was equally impressive, scoring 16 points, including four three-pointers that ignited the crowd.

"Once we got into our rhythm, it felt natural," said Darte. "Everyone was clicking, and we stayed connected on defense, which made the offense flow better."

Folsom Lake's defense stifled American River, limiting them to 30.5% shooting from the field and forcing 16 turnovers. The Falcons also controlled the boards, outrebounding the Beavers 38-24.

Key Contributors Shine

Point guard Lexi Peters orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out seven assists and scoring 10 points. Meanwhile, Ursula Chen and Kelis Powell provided invaluable support on the glass, combining for 13 rebounds and 10 points.

Reserves like Jadyn Weaver and Leilani Edinburgh also made their presence felt, contributing on both ends to ensure the lead stayed intact. Edinburgh's four steals highlighted the defensive effort that kept the Beavers from mounting any significant comeback.

Looking Ahead

With the victory, Folsom Lake improves to 17-2 on the season and strengthens their position in conference play. The Falcons will travel next week to face Delta College, aiming to build on this impressive win.

"This game is behind us," said Bowman. "Now it's about staying focused and getting better each day."

If Friday's performance is any indication, the Falcons are well on their way to a strong finish this season.
