Austin Call signs with Abilene Christian

American River College sophomore Austin Call (Oakmont) has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play baseball at Division 1 Abilene Christian University in Texas. Call played 3B for the Beavers for the past two years after graduating from Oakmont High School. He was one of 6 former Vikings on the Beavers team this year. Call was a two-year starter for the Beavers but missed time this year to a broken hand which he suffered in the third game of the season. He rebounded from the injury to hit .268 in BIG 8 Conference play and had 12 RBI on the season. He had one of the teams' three home runs on the season, a two run shot at Santa Rosa.
"I am very excited for Austin and I think that he will have success at the D-1 level. Abilene is a good school and we have had a great connection with Coach Bonneau over the years and I have no doubt that Austin will fit into their system very well. He has worked hard to become a very steady defensive player as well and it is no surprise to me that he is a Division 1 player", said Head Coach Doug Jumelet.
