Bio

Freddy is one of just two sophomores on the pitching staff this year.  Last year’s staff was loaded with sophomores and this year he gets to be the “father-figure” among the pitchers.  He figures to be the closer this year, taking over for Ian Codina, who over the past two years set several team records as the closer.  Freddy is also the hardest thrower on the staff, with a fastball in the 88-90 mph range.  He pitched in the Northern California JC Sophomore All-Star game in February.  Freddy played his high school ball at Folsom High School where he also played 3B.  Freddy got his first collegiate appearance in the Beavers 6-5 win over Feather River College on February 1st, 2017.  He recorded his first strikeout in A.R.C.’s 10-2 win over Napa Valley College on February 14th.  He threw one inning that day.  He struck out two batters in one inning of work against Sierra College on April 18th.  Freddy’s parents are Eileen and Jeff May.  His sister Shirley played softball at A.R.C.

Coach Jumelet says, “Freddy has grown from his freshman year to now as much as anyone that I have coached.  He has worked really hard to improve every aspect of his life, baseball, academics, everything.  He has turned into one of our most reliable pitchers and should be one of the better closers in the league this year.  I am looking forward to seeing how far he ultimately goes.”
