With the ARC Baseball team on its bye week the team had their final two non-conference games this week, Monday against Butte College and Tuesday up in Susanville to face the Lassen College Cougars.  Both teams are in the Golden Valley Conference and the Beavers had lost to both teams earlier in February.  Unfortunately the Beavers could not change the tune as they fell to Butte 12-3 on Monday and lost in walk-off fashion 9-8 at Lassen on Tuesday.  Monday's game started rough as freshman RHP Ethan Palumbo (Antelope) was touched up for 5 doubles in the first two innings and as a staff the Beavers walked nine batters on the day.  Tuesday's game the Beavers only issued one walk, but Lassen's batters scored four runs in the first off of starter Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge) who settled down, allowing just one more run over the next five innings.  The Beaves got the lead back thanks to a three run home run to center field by 2B Jayden Reynolds (Bella Vista), his first career home run.  ARC took an 8-6 lead into the 8^th inning but the Cougars got a run off of freshman reliever Kaden Clive (Delta), then tied the game with one out in the 9^th.  With runners on 2^nd and 3^rd and one out, freshman LHP Aidan Lieu (Rio Americano) got a grounder to short with the infield in to cut down the run at the plate.  Sophomore RHP Aidan Nielsen (Casa Roble) then came in and with 2 strikes he hit the first batter, then got the next batter to two strikes again before giving up a single on a sharp ground ball between third and short.  It is just the 4^th hit Nielsen has allowed this season in over 9 innings of work. 

The Beavers are off for the rest of the week before hosting Diablo Valley College on Tuesday in resuming BIG 8 Conference play.
