BEAVERS RALLY IN 6TH, GIVE IT UP IN 7TH, FALL TO FOLSOM LAKE COLLEGE

American River College used a three run 2nd inning to take a 4-1 lead over visiting Folsom Lake College on Tuesday only to see the lead evaporate with Folsom plating 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning.  Folsom Lake then scored 4 times in the 4th inning to chase starter Joey Guarienti (Vista del Lago) and put the Falcons up 8-4.  Freshman LHP Quincey Carr (Whitney) calmed things down for the Beavers, limiting the Falcons to one run in 2 1/3 innings of work, which left the Beavers trailing 9-4 heading into to the bottom of the 6th.  ARC got going in the bottom of the 6th, with SS Ramon Esparza (Roseville) leading off with a walk followed by a walk to C Grant Fletcher (Yuba City).  CF Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge) then singled in Esparza and 3B Bryce Sabatke (River City) singled home Fletcher to end the day for Folsom Lake reliever Jaren Ekkleboom.  The Beavers then scored on a couple of wild pitches as well as on RBI singles by LF Kaedin Bulock Yuba City and Esparza to put the Beavers up 10-9.  After Carr issued a leadoff walk to start the 7th inning he was lifted for freshman Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian).  Nichols walked two of the first three batters he faced then allowed a bases clearing double to put Folsom Lake up 12-10.  Nichols would settle in and keep the Falcons scoreless the rest of the way but ARC could not mount another comeback and 12-10 would end up being the final score.  Freshman Bryce Sabatke led the way for the Beavers with three hits and 3 RBI.  Dylan Westbrook had an RBI and a pair of hits and Kaedin Bulock had a pair of RBI singles as well.

The two teams will finish the three game series on Friday at Folsom Lake College with a 4:00 p.m. start.
