BEAVERS BEAT MODESTO IN WILD ONE AT HOME

BEAVERS BEAT MODESTO IN WILD ONE AT HOME

The American River College Baseball team got their 2nd walk-off victory of the season on Tuesday, but it really shouldn't have happened.  The Beavers got out to a 5-0 lead over the Pirates after 2 innings, then lead 9-4 after 4 innings.  MJC closed the gap to 9-6 in the 5th, but ARC got three more runs in the bottom of the 5th to lead what should have been a comfortable 12-6.  MJC got another run in the 7th to trail 12-7, then got two more in the 8th to make the score 12-9.  In the 9th inning the Pirates got a run on a two out single to make the score 12-10.  After a 2 out walk issued by freshman Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) and then a double steal, Modesto's LF Adam Alharbi hit a line drive to left field that was misplayed by freshman LF Rylan Pope (McClatchy), allowing the tying runs to score.  But the Beavers had some magic left of their own.  With one out Pope was hit by a pitch.  DH Kaedin Bulock (Yuba City) then hit a chopper over the third baseman's head to move Pope to second.  RF Jonas Dyas (Folsom) then walked to load the bases.  Freshman SS Ramon Esparza (Roseville) had hit the ball hard all day but right at people, as he was 0x4 at the time.  This time he hit a sharp grounder in the hole between third and short allowing Pope to score and give the Beavers the win.

Freshman Dylan Westbrook was 4x4 on the day with a pair of walks.  Sophomore 2B Jayden Reynolds (Bella Vista) was 5x6 with 3RBI and a stolen base.  Rylan Pope also had 3 RBI for the game and Kaedin Bulock had a pair of hits and two RBI.

The two teams will meet up again on Thursday at Jerry Streeter Field in Modesto.
