In one of the quicker games that American River College has played lately there was surprisingly little offense from both teams.  Kannon Sharpe, Modesto's pitcher was masterful in keeping the ARC offense off-balance, allowing just one hit through 6 innings.  It wasn't until the 8^th when ARC was down 5-0 that the Beavers broke through.  After a 2 out double by SS Ramon Esparza (Roseville) put runners at 2^nd and 3^rd freshman C Grant Fletcher (Yuba City) hit a chopper between third and short that was ruled an error and allowed RF Jonas Dyas (Folsom) to score.  CF Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge) then singled through the right side to score Esparza.  ARC threatened in the 9^th, getting two runners on with one out but pinch hitter Cameron Johnson (Yuba City) grounded into a game ending double play.  RHP Joey Guarienti (Vista del Lago) wasn't sharp but he held the Pirates to 5 runs through 4 1/3 innings.  Freshman Kaden Clive (Delta) threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and sophomore RHP Ben Hanson (Woodland) hurled a scoreless 8^th inning to keep the Beavers close.

The rubber match between the two teams will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Beaver Field.
