Football Falls Short in Defensive Battle Against #7 Fresno City College

In a battle of top-ten programs, American River College Football dropped a close game to #7 Fresno City College by a final score of 14-10.

The Beavers defense managed to hold an explosive Frensno City offense to just 223 total yards of offense, 79 yards passing, tallied 6 sacks, and forced and recoverd 2 fumbles.  Edgar Montes led the Beavers with 14 tackles, 1 sack, and 2.5 tackles for loss.  Brevin Amiga and Trevaun Robinson both added 10 tackles respectively.

Offensively, Cameron Smith would knock through a 44 yard field goal to cut Frenso City College's lead to 7-3 in the second quarter.  Fresno City would extend their lead to 14-3 going into halftime, but the Beavers would respond with a strong 10 play 68 yard drive that would be capped off with a 13 yard Elias Brown touchdown run to cut the lead to 14-10 in the third quarter.

The Beavers' defense woud create several more opportunities for the offense after stopping Fresno City College on a 4th down and gathering two fumble recoveries, but the unfortunately the Beavers could not take advantage of the opportunities.

With the loss the Beavers drop to 1-2 on the season and will prepare to take on the College of San Mateo on the road on Saturday, September 28th at 1 PM.
