Garrett Wasser
Garrett Wasser

Bio

Wasser is entering his second season with the Beavers as Director of Football Operations but has been a staple on the sidelines at games since his return to Sacramento in 2015.

His number one directive when coming on board was to feed the players.  Garrett immediately put his relationship building skills to work to raise funds and nurture connections with partners in the food industry.  This resulted in players maintaining their weight throughout the entire season when they had lost 10 to 15 pounds on average in years previous.  You might also find him working on design projects for sponsors with the on-campus sign shop, running point on fundraising events such as the golf and poker tournaments, working with apparel vendors, updating sports information, guiding the media team and assisting with game day operations.

When his DFO duties don’t take priority, he is coaching the offensive line.  Additionally, Wasser’s functional training background has proven to be an asset in the weight room and his ability to communicate and demonstrate proper technique was quickly recognized by Coach Wooden.

Garrett has a multitude of skillsets that apply to his role with ARC.  He brings 20+ years of business experience working in start-ups and large corporate environments.  10 of those were with AT&T in technical consulting and marketing roles where he worked in the C-Suite and had extensive experience managing cross-functional teams.  Wasser also spent some time with BSN Sports, the largest team sports distributor for Nike and Under Armour.  There he gained experience with uniform and apparel production.

Upon returning to the area, in 2016 Wasser linked back up with Osterhout at Linemen Win Games where he began to cut his teeth on video and eventually take over all other marketing duties including website, social media, apparel and attending football conferences.  Also playing a large role in running the LWG Coaches Clinics and the video production element.  In addition to the LWG group training, Wasser spent significant time with Coach O while preparing players such as Kolton Miller, Jordan Carrell, Jordan Kunaszyk and many others for the NFL.  Through the repetition of shooting and editing video, he began to assimilate Coach Os techniques and verbiage on both sides of the ball.  Wasser spent a few years coaching while simultaneously filming at LWG, but eventually decided to ditch the camera and pour everything into being the best possible coach.

As a player, Wasser attended Oakmont High School with Coach O where he played center for the Vikings along with baseball and golf.  He had no offers out of high school but garnered the attention of several local junior colleges.  Wasser eventually decided on American River College where he was a two-year starter (1995-96) at guard for the Beavers, earning All-Conference honors his sophomore year.

Wasser earned a full athletic scholarship to Sacramento State where he was a priority mid-year signing.  He played two seasons (1997-98) for the Hornets as a starter and reserve.  His senior season, he was part of an offensive line “The Hammerheads” that led the way for Charles Roberts’ historic Div. I-AA record breaking season with 2260 yards rushing.  Garrett earned his B.S. in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis from Sacramento State in 2000.

Wasser is a six handicap and loves to golf when time allows.  He also has an education in recording arts, has built multiple studios, ran live audio at concert venues, enjoys music production and plays the congas, bongos and keys.
