Coach Bill Benford is entering his fifth season as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at American River College. Between club and high school levels, Benford owns 14 years of cumulative coaching experience. In his four years on the ARC staff, the Beavers have made the two post season appearances, in the 2013 and 2015 seasons. His primary responsibilities include on-court coaching, working with the perimeter players, player development, recruiting and scouting. He is also involved with the program’s off-season strength and conditioning program.
Before joining the ARC staff, Coach Benford was the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Christian Brothers High School (2008-11). While at CB, Benford’s team made it to the post season each of the three years and competed for a section championship during the 2008-09 season.
Benford is an alumnus of American River College, playing for head coach Hub Morphew. While playing for the Beavers, Benford was a contributor that saw time off the bench as a freshman point guard and was part of a team that made it to the playoffs that year. During his sophomore year, he helped lead his team to a conference championship in the Bay Valley Conference with a 13-1 record and a 23-8 overall record and a birth in the playoffs.
Bill completed a Bachelor of Science in Management from University of Phoenix and has also added a Master of Arts in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University. He currently resides in Sacramento with his wife Holly and their children Makaila, Elijah, and Isaiah.
