Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes 9th in the State

Men's Swim finished 9th place and performed well at the State meet held at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. I was especially pleased that everyone scored at the meet and contributed.
The American River College Men's Swimming and Diving program closesd out the 2024 season with a 9th place finish at the 3C2A State Championships at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. The Beavers saw every individual contribute to the total score.
The team was made up of the following individuals:
Sophomores
- Luis Garibay - Breast stroke
- Haden Mc Call - Butterfly
- JT Lund - backstroke
- Oscar Pinot Cabrera - Freestyle 800 free relay
- Kove Pena - Butterfly and all 5 relays
Freshman
- Cayden Pitzer - Breastroke and Individual Medley
- John Branson – backstroke and sprint freestyle
- Gar Long - distance free
Cayden Pitzer broke 3 school records in the 100 breast 200 breast and 200 IM, he finished 2nd , 3rd, and 2nd respectively and was high point man for the Beavers scoring 52 points for the team.
Every individual event qualifier also scored as the team performed very well. Kove Pena a sophomore, swam on all 5 relays and did a great job especially in his butterfly legs for the 200 and 400 Medley relay.
John Branson broke the school record in the 100 back at Big Eight Championship's and led off the medley relays. He also anchored the 200 and 400 Free relays. Gar Long swam the mile, 500, and 200 free and finished 10th in the mile. Oscar Pinot Cabrera was a member of the 800 Free relay. JT Lund qualified and scores in the 100 and 200 back. Luis Garibay qualified in the 100 and 200 breast and scored in the 200 breast. Haden McCall qualified and scored in the 200 fly.
