Beavers Travel to Solano, earn 8-1 Victory

3/1/19
ARC-8 Solano-1
Overall:4-1 Conference: 3-0

In their third conference match of the season, the Beavers took on the Solano College Falcons. ARC hadn't played a match in over a week, and the rust showed early in the doubles, but they quickly rebounded from a break down in each match, to win each decisively at each position, 8-3 (#1), 8-4 (#2), and 8-1 (#3). In the singles the Beavers were almost as dominant, losing only a singles game at #3 (Younes Kodiji), 2 games at #3 (Micah Erwin), and 0 games at #4 and #5 (Tommy Luu and Kaison Lum). Raymond Halvorsen (#6) came out strong in the first set, winning it 6-0, but fell behind in the second set, before rallying back to finish the match off at 7-5 in the second set. At #1 singles, the Beavers' Sam Hall and the Falcons' Rajan Bhatia had a tremendously competitive and high quality match. Bhatia earned the late break to take the first set 6-4. Hall won the second set in a back and forth battle, which saw the momentum shift several times, 7-5. In the tiebreak Bhatia came up with the goods, serving and following it up with big forehands, to win the match tiebreak 10-6. It was a great day on the courts for the Beavers against a game Falcons team. ARC will next play the Diablo Valley College Vikings at Gold River on Friday, March 8th.
