Men’s Tennis Reaches Conference Championship

Big 8 North Conference Number 1 seed, American River College men's tennis, beat the Bear Cubs from Santa Rosa Junior College to qualify for the conference championship match against Number 2 seeded Folsom Lake College. The Beavers took control of the dual-match against the Bear Cubs from the very start of the doubles, losing just 3 games combined in the doubles matches. The singles was almost as dominant. Other than #2 singles, the Beavers lost only 6 games combined in the other 5 matches. Highlights included Younes Kodiji beating SRJC #1 Alex Trinh 6-0, 6-1 and John Demery stepping in to the lineup at #6 to defeat Jarret Anderson 6-0, 6-1. At #2 singles, Stephen Guenard played the tough SRJC #2 player Dat Tran. Guenard closed out the first set 6-3, before Tran went up early in the second set with a flurry of big groundstrokes and solid defense. Guenard was able to reset and find his level, winning 4 of the last 5 games to close the match at 6-4.
ARC has won 7 straight Big 8 North Conference titles. They will go for number 8 against the Falcons from Folsom Lake on Friday, March 22nd at Gold River Sports Club.
