Beaver Men Win Fresno Invite. Martinez Wins Individual Race

FRESNO - The ARC Men's Cross Country team battled the heat and humidity in Fresno and came out on top with the team and individual win. The Beavers beat Bakerfield 53-67 and had all 5 scoring members in the Top 20 of the race. They were lead by race winner Cristian Martinez who won the 4 mile race in 20:58. Cristian ran a smart race and sat with the lead pack until 500 meters to go before pulling away and winning by 7 seconds. He was followed by fellow Beaver scoring members: Lucas Reeves (7th, 21:25), Billy Groth (12, 21:58), Gavin Vance (17th, 22:16), and Pedro Tirado (18th, 22:18). Closing out the top 7 runners for the Beavers were Cody Foxworthy (23rd, 22:30), and Byron Chadwick (28th, 22:46).
"Today we came in and achieved our goal for the meet. We picked up the win, got to run on the state meet course, and got the rust off for a lot of our guys who had their first race of the season today" Coach Seawell said.
